Playing audio files (streaming)

NodeScan Client's built in Audio Player supports playback of Ogg Vorbis (tm)* format audio files streamed from a NodeScan Server over any TCP/IP network, including wireless LANs.

The Vorbis Streaming Server is designed for use over a Local Area Network or other high bandwidth, low latency, network. The server can run on any platform however the client requires either Java 1.3 or higher, or Java 1.2 with the Java Media Framework installed. Audio playback is not supported on the Mac OS platform however Mac OS X is fully compatible.

Streaming over a Wireless LAN.

It is possible to transmit and receive Ogg Vorbis streams wirelessly. For example you can run NodeScan Server on a computer which is connected to a wireless hub such as the Apple Airport and listen via the client from another room. You can even connect the client computer (i.e. a Powerbook or iBook) to your stereo in the living room and have audio files streamed from the computer in your office or bedroom. Adding files to the playlist.

Files can be added to the playlist by dragging and dropping them directly from the Search window. Drag lists can be saved and loaded giving convenient access to music and audio collections

The Audio playback engine utilized by NodeScan relies heavily on the work done by JCraft in developing a Java compatible implementation of Ogg Vorbis.
