NodeScan's search and indexing capability is based on the Java class library called Lucene written by Douglass Cutting, the architect and designer of the V-twin indexing engine upon which Apple's Sherlock is based. The Lucene library is released under the GNU LGPL (Lesser General Public License).

The Audio playback engine utilized by NodeScan relies heavily on the work done by JCraft in developing a Java compatible implementation of Ogg Vorbis.

The following people have contributed directly to NodeScan:

  • Gary Gehiere of Pixel Press, not only allowed us to use some of his great icons, he generously offered to create more. We are very grateful to him. (Gary, congrats on your people's choice award. It just goes to show, good things happen to good people).

  • Michael Brown helped with the NodeScan logo designs.

  • Ronald Guest and Chris Pepper have provided invaluable feedback and suggestions.

  • John Dean has been a fantastic resource, volunteering his time and effort to develop the new NodeScan manual and providing excellent beta testing feedback. Thank you, John.

  • Phillipe kindly helped with the French translations. Don't blame hime for mistakes though as he didn't get a chance to check it over before this release.
